Every morning the Moon has moved, and every two or three days it changes sign; Venus, Mars and Mercury move more slowly. This page looks at where they are today relative to each of the twelve signs and draws a few lines from it — the same logic astrologers use, applied honestly to today’s positions. The closing advice is a piece of common sense drawn by the date.

Today’s Chinese horoscope

The Chinese calendar does not only count years: each day also carries an animal and an element, in a sixty-day cycle (ten “heavenly stems” combined with the twelve “earthly branches”). Popular Chinese astrology compares the day’s animal with your birth animal — same animal, secret friend, triangle of affinity, clash, “harm” or “punishment” — and then the day’s element with your animal’s fixed element, following the cycle of the five elements (Wood feeds Fire, Fire feeds Earth, Earth feeds Metal, Metal feeds Water, Water feeds Wood; and each restrains the one two steps further on). The result below applies those rules to the letter, and invents nothing else.

Your animal is that of your lunar birth year: if you were born in January or February, check it with the calculator — Chinese New Year falls between 21 January and 20 February.

Where these texts come from

From a small astronomical engine published on this site, which calculates every day the longitude of the Moon, the Sun and the planets (accuracy: minutes of arc for the Moon, about a degree for the planets). For each sign, the text assembles what tradition associates with the relationship between those positions and the sign: Moon in the sign, opposite, trine, square… There is no prediction and no scientific claim: astrology is a language, not a law of nature.
