The search is internal to the site: the page index is loaded once into your browser, and results appear when you press “Search” or Enter, without going through an outside engine. To improve the site, the text searched, the language, the number of results and the page you choose are recorded, with no account and no IP address (privacy).
Results are ranked by title first, then section, then summary. A short, precise word works better than a sentence: try IUD, divorce Ireland or PrEP rather than a full question.
